I mean, technically, you don’t even have to bake it...

Yes the batter is so butter, sugar, and egg heavy its great on its own. I cleaned the bowl with a spatula like when I was a kid! ;)

Here it is done. I scaled the pan to the amount of fruit I had instead of the amount of batter in the recipe. Usually a raised side sheet pan. Im sure this will not disappoint though!

My birthday was this week, and I’m finally feeling normal again after having half a slice of wheat and sugar calorie loaf. I shall decline your gluttonous eats and go run a half marathon* tomorrow.

*Not a real actual half marathon, but 13.1 miles.  Might take me three hours, might die, too.

I need to look that up. Pflaumenkuchen or apfelkuchen is what I know. My grandparents came from Germany before wwII, and my grandmother refused to share this recipe until my sister convinced her soon before she passed. I have my chicken scratch copy of the recipe taped to the pantry door

I am usually more a paleo type eater, but at home with two teenagers these days, its been mostly comfort food. Ive put on a few but still 32" waist. At least we take long walks every night!

I definitely want to try one of those. Are peaches considered an acceptable fruit for it? Or is that sacrilegious?

So do you cook it and then add cinnamon sugar on top?

Well i threw a little on before baking and a little after to make it look sexier. Im sure peaches will work too. Cant go wrong!

Its a little coffee cake dry because I really should have had more fruit to batter ratio. Not the time to run to the store at the drop of hat..Otherwise this will all get eaten. My daughter confers

I suspect that might be how it turns out due to altitude/dry air here anyway but hopefully I can adjust for that.

Yup dry and high altitude too. Really should have had a dozen small fruits rather than half that.
